The 2019 Nominations 

6th Annual Star Awards

The Rocky Mountain Shopping Center Association’s Star Awards honor the most innovative and exciting new ideas within our local industry such as marketing, leasing, and the overall property whose contributions add value to shopping centers.  Categories are designed to recognize the evolution of the industry, while rewarding creativity and innovation.

Provided in this document are eligibility requirements, category descriptions, entry summary details, and the entry/nomination form. We encourage you to review all information thoroughly to ensure eligibility requirements are met and entry/nominations are submitted accurately.

Program Entry Eligibility:

To be eligible, the project must have taken place between January 2018 and May 2019. Any size and type of retail center may enter.

How to Submit an Entry:

Please complete the entry requirements as noted in the section below titled “Entry Summary Requirements” and submit the fully completed entry to dlt2737@aol.com.
Entry Deadline has been extended to Monday, August 12th!

How to nominate an Extraordinary Service Provider and/or Retail Property Management Team
Member of the Year:

 Please complete the form below and submit to: dlt2737@aol.com later than August 1, 2019.


Entries will be judged with winners announced at the Annual Star Awards.

Category Descriptions

Marketing Campaign and/or Social Media Campaign: 
Any size or type of retail center may submit a description of a new campaign that exemplifies best practices and/or innovation.  

Community Outreach/Involvement
Any size or type of retail center may submit a description which brings enrichment or entertainment to the community, i.e. toy drives, fundraising benefits, concerts, give backs to the community, school supply drives.

Sustainable Enhancements (Interior or Exterior):  
Any size or type of retail center may submit a description, preferably with before and after photos, where applicable, of steps to become green or LEED compliant, i.e. irrigation, lighting, drainage, roofing, recycling, bathroom components, heating and air conditioning, etc.

Value Enhancements through Renovation/Remodel or New Construction: 
Any size and type of retail center may submit a description of a project which added value to the center, i.e.  Interior or exterior design changes, capital improvements, landscape, curb appeal and other enhancements that are intended to increase center traffic/occupancy and/or improve center aesthetics.  When practical, before and after photos are preferred.

Creative Leasing Solutions
Any size and type of retail center may submit a description of a lease(s) that shows innovative problem solving, i.e.  innovative re-purposing of a vacant big box, intentional re-positioning of an entire center, capitalizing on extraordinary limitations of physical space or location, implementation of unique and creative lease terms to create value for the center and for tenant(s).

Extraordinary Service Provider: 
Any size and type of retail center may submit a nomination of a service provider which has gone “above and beyond” all measures of ordinary expectations. The nominee may have provided this service on a single unique project/event or provided extraordinary service over a sustained period.    Before and after photos are useful when appropriate or available.

Retail Property Management Team Member of the Year:
Here’s your opportunity to recognize a retail management team member who achieves a high level of performance within their organization. Team members to recognize include those who excel beyond their normal duties and display excellence in their specified department, including but not limited to building maintenance, marketing, leasing, management, customer service, etc.
